heritage n.
Valued objects or qualities, especially those passed down from previous generations.
Finding our roots, forging our future.
There seems to be a particular sentiment among the rising generation — people are searching for more, for something better, a place to call their own, and for solutions to modern problems that very much lie in returning to the ‘old’ way of doing things. We don’t believe the ‘homestead’ movement is just a trend, and we hope to see many more folks grab hold of that desire to break free from modernity’s clutch on our hearts and minds, re-visit what humans have done well in the past, and integrate that with advancing knowledge for a truly better farming future.
Why Tallow?
Tallow is the rendered fat from cattle, which has been utilized as a multi-purpose byproduct of animal-based diets for thousands of years. Our tallow is dry-rendered (no water added) and blended by hand in small batches right here on our Central MS farm.
Our grass-fed and finished tallow products reduce waste in accordance with our nose-to-tail approach to animal stewardship, as well as support our local farmer who utilizes regenerative agricultural practices to help restore soil health and viability, ensuring quality food production for generations to come.
Why Choose Covenant Heritage Farms?
We know you have no shortage of choices when it comes to purchasing tallow-based products. Here at CHF we believe in responsibly stewarding the land that feeds us, our children, and our neighbors. Foundational to that belief is our understanding that man has been given dominion over creation, and inherent in that gift is the absolute necessity of respecting natural processes and operating in a manner which honors the richness of our God-given natural resources through the use of sustainable, regenerative agricultural practices both on our farm and on the farms we source our tallow from.
Ever-present in this principle of stewardship is our belief in the necessity of shifting farming practices away from conventional methods (monoculture, feed lots, unnatural animal habitats, pesticide use, etc.,), toward those that foster local ecosystems, produce diverse forage for animals, provide biologically appropriate habitats, and promote the well-being of the animals and the soil.
We hope that you will partner with us in our mission to create great products that are good for you, and join us in supporting family farms who are working to promote regenerative practices in communities all across our nation.
